COMMENTS & OBSERVATIONS
Rebel II left the Mooloolah River and headed offshore to the Gneering Shoals into a reasonable sized swell and with expectations of good visibility out there. The further out we went the more the wind strength increased. Fortunately the anchor held okay and we descended into good visibility. Sea slug finds were few and far between. The shorter dives and moderate surge (in sets) may have had some bearing on that result. As the day progressed though, the wind eased as expected. The large number of Chromodoris elisabethina sighted was unusual (highest count for the day). There were finds worth noting however including Hypselodoris sp. 06, Halgerda aurantiomaculata, Phyllidiopsis cardinalis, Diversidoris sp. 01 (only found in a post dive review of the images), Verconia romeri (a juvenile at 3 mm) and a dark form of Goniobranchus geometricus.
