COMMENTS & OBSERVATIONS

We returned to Rose Bay to see if we could find and get better photos of some of the critters we found on our previous dive here on Tuesday 26/12/23. This time we snorkelled rather than dived and timed our visit with low tide. We did not find the species for which we were searching but did find an Elysia sp. 11 which we have not recorded in the Whitsundays previously.

Taxonomic Diversity:
Two of the four species sighted were nudibranchs, with 1 being a dorid comprising 1 x phanerobranchs (non-retractile gill), 0 x porostomes (suctorial feeder),  0 x cryptobranchs (retractable gill) and 1 was a cladobranch comprising 1 x aeolid, 0 x dendronotinid, 0 x arminid. 2 x sacoglossans complete the species count. If diet is considered none of the 4 species sighted were spongivores.

Our Historical data:
This is only our third survey at this site so it is far too early to draw any conclusions about species prevalence and abundance.
