________________________________________

This species is similar to the sympatric Trapania brunnea but there are significant differences. The background colour is reddish-brown covered in numerous yellow spots rather than a uniform dark brown with sparsely scattered white spots and there is yellow in the white pigmented regions that Rudman (author of both species) states is never present in Trapania brunnea.

It is somewhat similar externally to T. brunnea but in that species the background colour is a uniform dark brown and there are no yellow spots in the large white patches.” Rudman, Sea Slug Forum, 2001.
